News Editorial Guidelines (Press Release Writing Guidelines)

Writing a press release is an important way to announce news or updates about your business or organization. To ensure that your press release is effective and meets journalistic standards, follow these guidelines:

  1. Use a clear and concise headline: The headline should be attention-grabbing and summarize the main point of the press release.

  2. Provide a summary of the news: In the first paragraph, provide a brief summary of the news or update that you are announcing. This should answer the “who, what, where, when, and why” questions.

  3. Please mention city and country of the origin in the dateline and Media contact to be added at the end of the release with a person name and at least an email/phone no.

  4. Include quotes: Quotes from key stakeholders or experts can add credibility and personality to your press release.

  5. Use third-person perspective: Write your press release in the third-person perspective, as if you are a journalist reporting on the news.

  6. Provide relevant details: Provide additional details about the news or update in the subsequent paragraphs. Use facts and figures to support your claims.

  7. Include contact information: Provide contact information for someone who can answer questions about the news or update.

  8. Avoid advertising or promotional language: The press release should not be an advertisement or promotional piece. Stick to the facts and present the news objectively.

  9. Betting/Gambling, health supplements, adult/pornographic content not allowed: Please note that press releases related to betting/gambling, health supplements, or adult/pornographic content will not be accepted.

  10. Defamatory articles are also not allowed.

By following these guidelines, you can create a professional and effective press release that will be well-received by journalists and media outlets.
